Scala House Press is a literary imprint of Scala House Publishers, LLC. Our mission is to publish the best of new and under-recognized writers from around the world. We are currently focusing our publishing efforts on translated works from the Balkans.
At this time we are considering only manuscript queries related to translations of fiction from Central and Eastern Europe. Please mail a cover letter with synopsis and background on translation to the address below, or email us a query letter. We will contact you with a request for additional information if required.
Scala House was founded in February 2002, with our first titlesOpen Season, by Lucy Honig; Whole New Religion, by Bob Jakubovic; and Guarding Hanna, by Miha Mazzini published in November 2002.
Scala House Press books are distributed by Biblio Distribution, a division of National Book Network.

Scala House titles are available through independent bookstores everywhere, and by ordering from Ingram, Partners West, Baker & Taylor and many other fine distributors. Our titles can also be ordered directly through our Web site or by emailing or faxing us directly.
The Scala Publishing Group (TSPG), a Washington-based non-profit corporation, was established in March 2006 to oversee Scala House Press and several publishing-related, community and educational programs. In September 2006 all Scala House Press publishing efforts and business will be merged into the non-profit publishing group. In January 2007, The Scala Publishing Group will be officially launched at the States of Memoir event in Seattle. Scala House Press, under the auspices of The Scala Publishing Group, will release new titles in Spring 2007.
